Since 2001, Bindook Cottage is a family owned and operated early childhood centre located in Terrey Hills. We are open Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm and 50 weeks per year. We assist in the education and development of children aged 12 months to 6 years in a caring and child-centred environment.
Our vision has always been to create an environment that feels like a “home away from home” where children feel free to play, explore, investigate, create, learn, make friends, and most importantly feel safe and secure.
Bindook Cottage has two rooms within the centre. The Mulligrub room caters for children aged 1-3 years and the Bunyip room caters for children aged 3-5 years.
The Mulligrub room provides activities to promote exploration and essential learning. Educators observe the children and tailor the program to meet the individual needs and interests of each child. Activities include painting, pasting, drawing, role-play, building, dancing, tactile exploration, stories, singing, physical experiences, nutrition awareness, music and movement. The Mulligrub room is where friendships begin to develop along with their social, emotional, language, cognitive and creative skills.
The Bunyip room extends the learning which has started in the Mulligrub room and whilst incorporating a full pre-school program within long day care hours. It is our intent to assist in the overall development of each child, while preparing the children for the transition to school from the centre. The curriculum is based on the Early Years Learning Framework fostering the children’s learning and growth, literacy skills, numeracy skills, creative skills, cognitive skills as well as social and emotional skills. The Bunyip room allows children to establish friendships through social interactions and supportive role modelling. The children are able to learn to play cooperatively and collaboratively with their peers in a safe home-like environment.
